Gary Lewis and The Playboys 10 Years, 5 Months ago  
I have been hearing Gary Lewis and The Playboys for a few years now and can't belive Count Me In was a never number 1.

Al Kooper originally wrote "This Diamond Ring" for the Drifters (I don't know whether they ever recorded it?), and he never liked the Gary Lewis version. Several years later he recorded a version of it on one of his solo albums - it's very different to the Gary Lewis recording, but this is how Kooper had intended it should sound.

I met Kooper a couple of times in the 60s, in my Hollywood/Davey Jones/Pete Tork period (I was No1 in Los Angeles). When I also found Harry Nillson and brought his obscure music back to the UK and also spent time with members of Three Dog Night and Neil Young.
