to me, this clip is desperately sad. a great band from 1988ish showing a potential that was never fulfilled (even though their album was ace!) along with the Stone Roses - another great pop/rock band. Unfortunately all we got was bloody Oasis! - a band with no subtelty, originality or daring. Seeing Lee and the lads play That'll Be The Day with such respect and joi di vivre breaks my heart.

I like the LAs, I like themm a lot, but I didn't think much of this standard cover.

On the idea they didn't fulfill their potential I'd say they did. Their potential was one great album, the bonus tracks on the CD just confirm that.

I got a bit fed up with wittering about evil record companies not letting them get on with it and all that genius destroyed by drug stuff - no they're not and no it didn't.

Having heard other bits fished out from the bin their one and only album really was their one and only album - and a great album it is.

Many arists have soared like a rocket and fallen like a stick. No everyone has longevity, indeed some of the greatest tracks have been a flash in the pan. I'm not saying anything against that but to invent the greatness that would have been is futile.

They were what they were and they did what they did - and that's it.
