The simple answer in this case ,is that there were reports from major City analyists that a bid for EMI was made from a leading private equity on Wall Street.
Not least because the EMI Finance team led by Martin Stewart had received 'feelers'.
So the Bandier/Ames buy out stuff is the supposition from whom is really behind the original bid. Most of this stuff is freely available if you know where to look.
