The last time I met him was a couple of years ago at some BBC 'do' and he was as warm, friendly, modest and kind as ever. And - unlike many stars - he was always eager to seek out and mix with his old crew - the cameramen, the SMs, the sound mixers, etc etc - which is why they all continued to love him so much.

His music wasn't really my bag, as I was only a kid when he was big in the 70s and 80s. However I remember he used to be on regularly on saturday nights and seemed like a lovely man.

Yes wasn't for me either - plus he covered Bob Lind's Elusive Butterfly, that everyone said was ripped off from Everyone's Gone To The Moon (see what you think).
