Shocking Blue Singer Dead

Mariska Veres, of the 1970's pop group Shocking Blue has died from cancer aged 59. The group had the worldwide hit 'Venus' in 1970. The song reached the top of the American music charts making it to number one.

Their song 'Venus' made it to number one on the American Billboard chart two more times by Stars on 45 in 1981 and Bananarama in 1986. Grunge band Nirvana covered another of Shocking Blue's song Love Buzz on their 1989 debut album 'Bleach'.
