Ok bear with me as im in Aus which is nice, hot and sunny at the moment but as far as i have read about the BT interactive TV, which i think is a great idea there will be a mix of interactivity and 'editors' choice. I think Itunes has the perfect model.
They highlight major content, great new music and basically what they like while at the same time giving people the choice to browse.
Many people are turning off telly in droves and seeking information via the web and there are new filters at play.
Popjustice, Tipsheet, ROTD all act as filters to some degree. I remember Dotmusic in their heyday before they got gobbled up by Yahoo.
On the other hand people want to choose their own content and what they want to listen to and the 'filters' are always going to be the DJs who play the music.
My advice for radio would be this:
Have one show whereby people can request any song they like, signed, unsigned, indie, major and then play some clips and ask the public to vote what track they want to be played on the radio.
We are moving into an interactive world and there will be a few websites that will point out whats hot and whats not but i dont think the BT interactive TV is going to replace TV but it will act as a kind of Youtube on the air.
