More red tape.

Paid them once and not paying them again.

If you own the CD it's your choice what you do with it ?

Clearly the tight-fisted music business doesn't think so.

Maybe they could shut down Music Magpie and Amazon for selling second CD's.

The longetivity you see in the singles chart now is a lot to do with "devices" - the ADHD Generation love their "devices" but are also constantly breaking & upgrading them. As a download is relatively cheap, the attention deficient ones buy the same track 2 or 3 times.

But easy to transfer to a CD and give to mates, there are plenty of proxys to get torrents.

As far as I can remember, it is legal to make a personal copy of music you bought in many European countries. The idea was that you could burn a copy of a CD for your car. Very reasonable, but even that idea is a bit redundant now.

Not for me it's not. I burn EVERYTHING onto CD/Rs for car entertainment. Still haven't caught up with mp3's let alone streaming and bit torrent.
