Yes that was why Simon asked me to come on and bring something back to talk about, to fill space (strike, correct). So I bought the Rubik's Cube (that NOBODY in America was buying yet) from FAO Schwartz ("can't give 'em away") and claimed it was the new big thing.
Just seen it on iplayer, strike or not it was still a great show. Xtc, Madness, Sheena Easton, and Kelly Marie, all great tracks. You were very amiable with the Rubik's cube, although you didn't actually mention what it was called. The lovely Olivia Newton-John was co-presenting, did you get to meet her? Was she has lovely as she seemed? She just had a big hit with Xanadu, which was a great song somewhat forgotten by the Industrial action.
I remember you came on totp two years later to introduce the popular trend of 1982, which was deely boppers (antenni attached to the head). Great fun whilst they lasted.
