ITV - the nation's favourite 80's number 1 9 Years, 10 Months ago
Or more accurately ITV viewer's favourite no. 1 song. Why restrict it to number 1's.

Spoiler alert

If you haven't seen it catch it on itv player.

Well I suppose the no. 1 choice was fair enough. Every breath you take was a great song, and probably my favourite police song. No songs by Duran Duran in the top 20. The definitive 80s band?
Bonnie Tyler at no. 3 with Total Eclipse. A very naff power ballad that says nothing about the 80s and probably voted for by people who were already middle-aged when the song was released. Good to see Bonnie Tyler though, so full of beans. Culture club with Karma Khameleon, good song, but surely "Do you really want to hurt me" was the better song. Jacko at no.2 with Billie Jean shows that the British public don't mind young black americans accused of child abuse, as long as they make good records. No position for Band Aid, the biggest selling record ever at the time.
I imagine that ITV heavily suggest who you vote for in this poll. Entertaining enough programme. although a bit too tabloidy.

Yes I know he was cleared, I just said that he was accused.
This would be enough in the uk to demonise him. As for been cleared, the first case was an out of court settlement.

I think most people give him the benefit of the doubt considering the seediness of the claimants?
I was reading that his father is recovering well from three heart attacks (or something) this week? They seem to be a very resilient family.

I am really surprised by "every breath you take". I assumed everyone else is as sick of it as I am.

Billie Jean was in 1983, the abuse charge came in 1993. UK record buyers weren't clairvoyant.

Yes, but the vote for this competition took place this year. This wasn't a chart of the biggest selling records, but the most popular voted for this year.
