Made one realise how LAZY so many DJ's today are; the preparation and use of stings, snippets, jingles, choruses, hooks was phenomenal.
Plus Phil Swern goosed him during the rundown!
1998 shows looking back at 1970 and 1980 - superb (they should ALL be rebroadcast).

Aha! Lazy DJ`s............. 18 Years, 5 Months ago
I despise the computer software generation only of live/radio DJ`s. Anybody can simply press a play button. I have no problem with it being used and use some of it myself, but to only be able to use the software is a crime against music. Snippets really make the listeners ears prick up.
My fave one this season is to keep dropping in bits of the M+S advert, but this can irritate some people as did some of Kenny Everetts stuff.
I think the public are not into having a dj in their face in these times, the days of the personality dj are fading.
This is probably due to a lack of popular personalities.
Fade to grey...............

And I bet Fluff would never have pretended that certain records hadn't existed. Unlike his successor.

In my days of presenting hospital radio I used to use snips from Tony Hancock, along with various self compiled jingles. One mixed the "Look Out!" from Sweet's Hell Raiser with "Can't stop keep rocking, kid" from Hank C Burnett's Spinning Rock Boogie (anyone remember that one?) Fun days!

One for The Cat.... 18 Years, 5 Months ago
..in my endless quest for cheap second hand collectables and workable music, I go to a lot of secondhand shops.
On Saturday, my partner pointed one out, and said "we havent done that one yet!"
As I read the sign above the door which said "Hospital Radio Bedside" I said " errrm there probably is little point!"
You guys do great work, both large hospitals down here run shows still, and I am yet to meet a dj that has not put his hours in on the stations.

I think he means the way Winton skips anything by Gary Glitter. If Glitter was number one that week, the song doesn't get played - chart history is virtually re-written, which is a bit silly.
