TOPIC: SOTS Boxing Day

SOTS Boxing Day 9 Years, 5 Months ago
Thank God the season hasn't ruined our regular Saturday enjoyment; when I was locked up in Her Majesty's luxury estate 15 years ago, Sounds of the Sixties was the most popular radio show behind bars!

Bobby's Girl - the Susan Maugham cover version and UK hit. Those were the days when American hits, especially from small labels, got covered and turned into hits in the UK (1962). I always preferred the US original.

One of the things I love about the show is that it reminds me of characters I knew in the 60s and 70s - Philip Soloman discovered and produced David McWilliams, married Dorothy (is she still with us? Phil died in 2011).

And Wild Wind by John Leyton - great music from the mighty Joe Meek and Geoff Goddard, often ignored by mainstream programming.
