Predictions for 2007... 18 Years, 5 Months ago
Well, what I want to find are...
A really bright, adaptable young group with a hugely charismatic member who have the brains to collaborate with a more experienced and older producer and manager and the talent to contribute to several huge global smash singles.

A beautiful but talented girl with a good voice and a sense of humour.

A technical genius to help start a 24/7 TV and radio station online which can also be seen or heard on digital, satellite, terrestrial receivers and which will give 2007 the same boost the pirates did in the 60's.

Remember - the very first Pirate Radio Station was not Caroline but VERONICA.

My goals are to get The Malloys and Sunsets on Vegas huge on the underground scene...

Further development of BOB Promotions and work on a new label Chestnut Road Records...

JK, if I find that beauty with talent, i'll send her your way

The first two tasks you have listed are the hardest to find for the new year. There is a lot of talent out there, but the majority lack the killer punch.
I`m sure a lot of us, like we do here, all search Myspace and go to gigs and showcases, and so often think "wouldn`t it be great if we pulled him/her out of that act and put them with them, them and them?"
I think the third, you could probably get quite a few applicants and the keywords would be "dedication to the job".
Intersting plan though, and I have to agree with it. There is internet/pirate style radio, as we all know, but none with any flair or daringness.
Don`t forget the independent Podcasts though, brumcast is excellent.

2007 this is what I would like:

First off there are the essentials:

1. good robust health
2. freedom and happiness
3. financial security

now on to music goals:

2007 first quarter: write a hit song and have it succesfully placed
with a mass market recording artist

increase my labels sales so as to turn the business
into a profitable company

work harder to become more succesful

network with more people in the biz

get all my tax affairs in order and completed

become friends with more good people

What I predict are quite a lot of label free download only hits in which the PR companies become the major players and actually help as A+R, I also predict a lot of less busy industry bods will go into PR and help this situation before the PR companies become record companies themselves.

Foresooth.

Nostradamus , just after breakfast time.

My big prediction for 2007!

A show entitled 'The Drowsy Chaperone' will be a huge West End smash (both with the public and press).

I do have a couple of other predictions, but have been sworn to secrecy and have to keep them under my hat!

Martin that is the biggest problem I find. Kids simply do not understand the work involved. I need to see more of the seething out of their skin to be succesful, like Madonna in 1979.

Wishing a big year to everyone on here.

MAKE the stars align!!!!!!!

Talking of the final bit that makes an act realise how important it is after the initial hype/release, an interesting ploy of mine appears to have worked with one of our acts.
Against my "wishes", on the initial limited release, I let them pick their own "B" side, which I don`t like at all, and neither did a reviewer.
It`s been the biggest kick to their ego`s yet and has caused great determination in the camp to get it right.
Basically, if I don`t like the tune, they don`t waste time in the studio recording it now, and they agree.
Everybody has to sing from the same hymn sheet or there is no way forward for an act.
I have learnt this year that the manager really IS the extra member of the band and this I hope will work for many acts with the same determined crews, pushing in the same direction in the new year.

My prediction for 2007.

1. The Youtube model (user generated videos) will be modified and i predict it will be more entertaining with a section on new releases, whats hot in music and other 'editorial' pages. Fronted by a major TV personality. This savvy site would get deals with all the labels and unsigned acts.

2. There will be a collective body for unsigned or independent artists without a label who will work for their interests, provide advice, link them with producers, consultants, distributors and a&r. This is going to be the biggest growth industry and will make a lot of money for all. It will provide artists with one important thing (advice and support) whilst giving them total independence. This collective will challenge the majors and AIM and have a big impact on the industry as a whole. It would be founded by Tipsheet visitors.

3. Word of mouth marketing will become the norm. This would be the system that would be used to promote real hits worldwide. Unlike previous WOM campaigns, gimmicks
will be thing of the past, the music will speak louder
than everything else.

4. Music industry professionals will become proactive. Sharing ideas and implementing things but most of all rewarding each contributor.

I think you will find your points 2,3 and 4, KZ, are starting to happen already.

I am less interested personally in the video idea but then I have allways preferred my sound without vision.
