The first two tasks you have listed are the hardest to find for the new year. There is a lot of talent out there, but the majority lack the killer punch.
I`m sure a lot of us, like we do here, all search Myspace and go to gigs and showcases, and so often think "wouldn`t it be great if we pulled him/her out of that act and put them with them, them and them?"
I think the third, you could probably get quite a few applicants and the keywords would be "dedication to the job".
Intersting plan though, and I have to agree with it. There is internet/pirate style radio, as we all know, but none with any flair or daringness.
Don`t forget the independent Podcasts though, brumcast is excellent.

Talking of the final bit that makes an act realise how important it is after the initial hype/release, an interesting ploy of mine appears to have worked with one of our acts.
Against my "wishes", on the initial limited release, I let them pick their own "B" side, which I don`t like at all, and neither did a reviewer.
It`s been the biggest kick to their ego`s yet and has caused great determination in the camp to get it right.
Basically, if I don`t like the tune, they don`t waste time in the studio recording it now, and they agree.
Everybody has to sing from the same hymn sheet or there is no way forward for an act.
I have learnt this year that the manager really IS the extra member of the band and this I hope will work for many acts with the same determined crews, pushing in the same direction in the new year.
