The gap was there they grabbed it first.

Koopa is an unsigned band

Unsigned bands seems to have found a loophole to get into the charts now, they don't need to released a physical single, hope that explains your Koopa question

Great site and the tracks sound good (like the rock version of the Proclaimers) but the previews don't work on the single - major flaw!

Koopa

KOOPA is actually Cooper - Essex band unsigned but proving a bright digital attitude can hype the charts through 7 Digital (I see your shops are through MPP - are they chart eligible?).

Very glad to see an unsigned band in the charts - it's about time the whole thing got a good kick.

Good luck to Kopppa* and good luck to the new world of chart music.

*Hoping this isn't some kind of major label stunt.

Well I`m glad somebody else said it!
If it isn`t a major label stunt, it`s a band as clued up as us lot.
And if it is, they have been very quiet `till now.
Not one of mine I hasten to add, if it was I would boast very loudly, I admit to have been planning this one, but I was not fast enough it would appear.

i second that...
have had my suspicions on them.

unless they are savvy amongst the business, i can't see why they've not been signed a way back...

guess i'm being cynical again

I wasn`t planning the unsigned chart thing until February, I don`t think Koopa are a major act anymore as they would not have gone down already.
Anyone who has info, let me know, as I have had a press call about them, or indeed the band themselves.

Big End

Re:Midweeks for the Digital Age! 18 Years, 4 Months ago
I hear the cynical argument, however, I think and have thought since spring 2006 that this is the way forward. Check some of my previous posts if you think I'm blagging. Have a chat to some of the brighter teens/early 20 somethings...they are all onto this way of doing things.

The current problem was pointed out by GG a week or two ago i.e. apathy among young performers.

While I'm about it, here's another prediction for 2007. More big studios will close.
