As Cannes hit zero, the Midem delegates deserted the Croisette and met in the hotels but since the biggest hotels became VERY fascist (Majestic - the best - was relaxed and very busy; I bumped into Martin Beggars Mills in the toilet!; the Carlton - which used to be the best - was very regimented - Ames was holding court over a glass or two of white wine).

The Palais was full of very low level delegates - the registration fee was ludicrously high.

The US name to watch (largely due to my whispers in all the most powerful ears) was BARRY WEISS.
