What's happened to the MEGA hits??? 18 Years, 3 Months ago
Whilst looking at an article on music sales recently, I found it unbelievable that Bonnie Tyler sold close to 60,000 copies PER DAY of her world-wide hit 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart'

Does anyone think we will ever see these sort of hits ever again???

60,000 copies in a day! , My God! you've only got to sell just over 20K in a week to get to No.1 (not that it matters much anymore).

In those days if you wanted it and didn't want to buy it, you had to beg someone to do a copy. Bad quality and you were depending on them doing it in the first place. Or you could try and tape it from the radio. Bad quality again + those damn DJ's. Easier to buy it.

Now you can get on any P2P & have it instantly for free at a good quality.

Or you can flick through the free-to-air music channels. If it's a big song it's bound to be playing on one.

Or you can hear it for free at Myspace as many times as you like.

You can watch the video free as many times as you like on YouTube as well.

Is there any point in buying it?

Here's another way to look at the question:

Will we ever hear songs like that again? Where are today's "Total Eclispes", "What's Love Got to Do With It", "Sailing", "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" or "Un-Break my Heart"? Without these songs - and the ability to exploit them - the biz will become a cottage industry.
