The View, Fratellis etc... 18 Years, 3 Months ago
Now there's nothing more boring than old farts saying "I've heard it all before..."

but I have.
I quite like Same Jeans but it's PURE Proclaimers.

Ditto these other "new" bands... The Feeling anyone?

But before you say "it's because you're old" may I point out, our parents generation NEVER said it when we arrived with Presley, Beatles, Stones, King...

They said "I've never heard anything like it and I don't want to".

I have to say it does annoy me when people (not just you JK) keep going on about new bands sounding like old music.

The Proclaimers were big 20 years ago and sounded like Andy Stewart did 20 years before them. The Proclaimers appealed to people who didn't want to listen to Andy Stewart songs but liked the style. The View appeal to people who don't want to listen to old Proclaimers songs but like the style.

Same goes for The Feeling etc, you may have heard it before but today's music public want to hear The Feeling's take on it.

The other artist hard done by critics is Mika. Ripping off Freddie Mercury is the most common complaint I hear yet his brilliant album isn't full of Queen pastiches?

The fact that he's been top of the charts for 3 weeks and has both the top selling single and album tells me that most critics really just don't have a clue.

actually, 'Same Jeans' sounds like 'Brimful of Asha'...and that old 'dress up like The Wizard of Oz/ Village People' acceptance speech schtik - I was doing that 20 years ago....and look where it got me...!!
