When calculating sales for the 'official' chart, can they determine which country the buyers are from? With physicals it's fairly easy to see how they are selling in different countries. Now through the internet music is available to everyone in a kind of universal market. I often hear that a band has made it into the top 40 on only a few thousand digital sales, but are those few thousand limited to Britain, or is this a worldwide figure?

Inspite of the global nature of the internet, the digital download shops serve only customers in their home country.

The UK Charts only include digital sales delivered to UK ISP addresses or UK Mobile Phone numbers.
