Did Fopp really buy 40+ Music Zone stores?

I've been informed that Fopp have "licensed" the MZ stores, and are selling off the stock on behalf of EUK. By trading the stores, they will then have an opportunity to make an offer to the receiver for any stores they decide to keep.

This makes sense to me, as I really can't understand Fopp wanting such a dog of an estate of shops! They could take the profit from all the stores and walk away if they want.

This is an unusual practice in the UK, but that's what Transworld did with Musicland/Sam Goody in the States. They took on all/most of the stores then handed back the ones they didn't want after a short period of time.

Anyone know any more?
