In my local music shop the subject of comedy records came up - they don't seem to happen anymore.

Things like Peter Sellars doing his Shakespeare Beatles, Nellie the Elephant, even Weird Al Yonavich (Or whatever his name is) don't appear anymore.

Shame this lot didn't do a cover of Fire Starter a while ago - the snippet they do is pretty funny.

My "Du The Dudek" (tribute to Jerzy Dudek) just scraped the Top 40 a year or so ago, Zooloo, so comedy records can sell.

All my recordings are meant to be comedy, it`s just that nobody gets the joke:dry:

I must say though, and this is a fact, my dear Mum, actually asked me if the real lobster in my freezer was alive.!
Bless her.
He hasn`t asked to go walkies for a while....

I don't dispute if they can sell or not. It's that they don't seem as common as they had been in the 60s and 70s.

I stress "seem" as I haven't done any research. In this instance only naming one that scraped into the top 40 may show they're not as common as they once were.

I'm fully willing to accept the musing of 3 blokes in a music shop has no validity whatsoever. Our cursory consideration didn't come up with any well known recent hit comedy songs.

(PS it's zooloo - I am the all lower-case modernist I am )

the album is available for pre-order at Wippit already and it should be available for pre-order at iTunes in a couple of days.

We're confirming more gigs in the North West over the coming days including a stadium gig. Alright, were going to be half time entertainment at the rugby but its going to be fun!

I'll sithee,

I found the tracks most amusing, the "Firewall" one mostly.
Great rhyming "slang".
