I think the thing that struck me about it along with many other tracks yesterday, during a full twelve hour radio listening stint, was why the heck are they all mixing things to sound exactly the same?
I have found it a true inspiration to work with various people lately, some board members, some not, who think beyond the now standard radio constraints.
Steve Smiths` unconventional production of Sandi Thom, using the percussion instruments which surround him was groundbreaking, it shouldn`t have been though, he just went back to basics.
I`m getting rather bored with "perfect" music, I want humanisation back.
As this is the correct board for this, compare these two tracks.
Only heard Avril's new song once. Must have another listen. Have to say, though, she looked amazing at her wedding - a lot more of a traditional event than I'd have expected. I think that, as a person, she's grown up well.
Or as Charlotte Church said when interviewing her on her prog on Friday 'SUM 42'
And whilst i'm on this subject ... next series of Charlotte church not happening because of 'the pregnancy' although after seeing it for the first time last friday I'm not suprised. It was so lame and the interviews so amateur, poor Avril looked embarassed to be there and then it was rounded off with Patrick Wolf & CC doing a Prince cover version.
