Modest Mouse versus Arctic Monkeys 18 Years, 3 Months ago

Which, if either or both, is the sound of 2007?

One is US indie rock (through a major of course), the other UK indie rock.

Any opinions on the latest albums? Pete Paphides raved about the Monkeys in the Times; Mouse is No1 on the Billboard album chart and now boasts Johnny Marr as a fulltime member.

Not particularly bowled over by either. If I had to choose I'd give the Arctics the edge. But for me neither band is anything that interesting. All a bit too close to recycling old styles for me.
