Weedshare is a cool system that enables people that buy a music file to sell it on, and make a little profit from it. The idea is to encourage file-sharing rather than punishing it. You could post the files on a website or send them to friends. If they decide to buy the files, you get a commission.
Unfortunately, recent changes in MS Vista and Windows Media Player 11 mean that the DRM-controlled files no longer play. So until this is resolved, they are suspending distribution indefinitely.
However, the other developers of what is called "meta-distribution", Potato system are still going strong. They use un-DRMed MP3 files to do the same thing.
