What are people's opinions on tribute bands ?

I have seen several of them in clubs years ago up and down the country - only just a couple quid each time (about £20 on beer at the bar after ).

I have been looking at listings on Ents24 and now a lot of them are touring together.

Poizon and Motley Crude which both are very good - any one in Stoke or Nottingham in April should definitely go.

Only Genesis tribute band I have enjoyed watching is G2 other Genesis tribute bands should give up.

When I saw Hotter than Hell years ago it was peanuts now it's about £8 - £15 these days but still prefer Dressed to Kill.

AC/DC tributes should be avoided in my opinion just ask the local pub cover band to play Highway to Hell.

Do we need about a dozen Led Zeppelin bands in the UK?

Guns N Roses Experience are superb along with Limehouse Lizzy.

I never saw so many old boilers screaming and jumping at T Rextasy.

I still see official bands but tribute bands because they are cheap and can be entertaining.

I'm with Honey on this; the originals or nothing for me; I don't even like rerecordings.

I never got the concept of rerecordings - Hallmark records trait.

I don't mind tribute bands (if it's done well) especially in clubs but purely down its a cheap night out.

Eleven Club in Stoke is superb especially when they original bands playing.

I think it goes down who the tribute act is - I would never see ABBA tribute or Kate Bush and Rumours Fleetwood Mac.

Rerecordings are essentially financially motivated; copyrights are often In Perpetuity but bands and artistes get around that by rerecording so they own the rights to those copies.
