www.song-tank.com/

Does anyone know any of the names behind it?
The site doesnt really explain how they are going to operate but the pre publicity is good.

The domain (song-tank.com) is registered to Tucow Inc.

Tucows are the software download people. - ETA ooppss! no it isn't

They have a Myspace www.myspace.com/songtank2 - nothing there really and why the songtank2 when songtank seems available?

The blurb on Myspace and their website seems rather vacuous.

Strange web-design too. Tried IE7 to see if Firefox is missing anything and it was worse.

SO far not impressed - they've made some very basic errors in their website design, so basic and foolish I'd question the credibility of those involved.

Hey explain it on here Songtank!

We get 10,000 viewers a day - only a tiny handful will bother to e-mail you. We're quite happy to discuss it. This is a very positive board.

Your linky no work like what this won do

The website...

Loaded quickly - good.

Clicked on "Want Music" and you want me to register. Bad, in fact very bad. If I clicked it's because I want music and you won't give me any?

Cunningly I did track down some music - I only bothered to do this because you've posted here and asked for opinions, in the real world I would have just gone.

There is a little folder, Mysongs, click on that, see list of songs. Mouse-over on song name and nothing happens.

This webpage is not behaving how I expect webpages to behave I am a confused user who thinks he's made enough clicks to get nowhere... in the real world I might give up at this point.

See "launch track player", click it... aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhh!

Notice the player in on full volume at default. Turn speakers down.

Don't like music, notice in "Friends" list "dangermouse". Hey they've got Dangermouse involved, how cool is that! Clicky...

Oh. It's another Dangermouse, the not at all famous one - real world, like the site's credibility I am gone.

Anyway,,, by now I have noticed the "play" icon on the track player and an "i" which I suppose is for "information", click it, information like the track title and... er... that's it. Try again... same. Try somebody else... same.

I already know the track title - this website seems to involve a lot of clicking to get nowhere much. Real world I'm bored and I am gone.

******

Click on "Got Music?"

Blurb offers me free subscription... oh they want money... I wonder how much?

I wonder still. I have looked about and find no mention of how much anywhere. It stops there, I'm gone.

People have registered but unless something amazing happens non of those is going to pay.

Advice and support page - the wording should be a link, having to click "detail" on the other side of the box is annoying.

As a business proposition I am unconvinced.

For web design the site is very poorly designed, it looks kind of pretty but that's just cosmetic.

Looks like a graphic designer did it, nice to look at but fails at a functional level. They certainly have no concept of usability or standards (Official and developed custom).

Good luck but nobody worth while is going to register before you let them hear some music. That is your immediate web design problem that will kill your business if you don't correct it.

(You can I haven't spoken to any human beings so far today )

Looks like you're having as many troubles with my site as I am with yours!

It's strange that you couldn't hear any music without registering: It's completely free to browse the entire database. Use the simple search on the left to browse track or member name, or the advanced search function where you can do more in depth searches.

As an unregistered user, you'll be able to hear 30 seconds of music if that member has given permission for non friends to audition their music. If you want to hear more, you have to register.

As Song Tank is a site for professionals, privacy and security are paramount as our members don't want any old 'tom, dick or harry' perusing their material and profiles.

We already have some very heavy weight people on board. It would not be very discreet of me to go bleating on about who they are, but any one can check out the member list.

Registering takes 5 seconds and the only mandatory details required are email address and password.

Hopefully you've spoken to a human by now!!
Maybe you should have another look http://www.song-tank.com as my linky worky now.

Thanks for you thoughts though, it's ice to get a bit of criticism now and again!

Problems with my site... not good news. What problems did you encounter?

Listening to tracks - the search function is by Title or Members - well I don't know either so the search function is useless. OK I can (If it occurs to me) use the advanced and find music sorted by category - but why hide it?

You're not making it easy for me to hear music and as that's the point of the website there is a serious problem.

Why isn't it straight forward and easy to hear the music?

Registering may be quick but what is my incentive? Your site is one among thousands doing the same thing - why should I (or anyone) register if I don't know if it's something worthwhile?

Member list... what member list?

You say you have "...some very heavy weight people on board." and you won't say whom. Can you name one credible business that has "some very heavy weight people on board" and keeps it a secret?

Last question - if somebody clicks on a link titled "Want Music" why do you think they have clicked that link, what do they want/expect?

ETA. This is intended to be helpful. I'm not pointing out your website issues just for fun.
