..and also for those that think that instrumental music does not stick in ones head anymore.

Beautifully played and some top tunes.

Brilliant! I have a collection of surf groups just behind me. Funny thing, they are all recent bands from Germany. Good playing and with track titles such as "Venus Pussy Polka Riot", you know you're in for some fun.

The album will be out next month, we think it`s a well timed move.

It`s been a real eye opener what a worldwide and friendly community the surf bands have.
I did a gig once with a London instrumental surf "style" band called The Bikini Beach Band, I don`t know if they are still about.
They played current and well known hits in a surf style whilst dressed identicly in Fez`s and Hawaian shirts.
They were completely amusingly choreographed and did not crack a smile once.

Quite a few have been in contact Michael already.(more please!)

What we are looking to do is put a few live surf music events on from the Autumn.

It`s a long term project, as it is one of the only forms of music that doesn`t date as it already is dated and thats it`s appeal.
I`m quite happy with the deal we are planning with our lot, but it is of note that it is an incredibly independent scene, I find it fascinating and very universal.

We get a lot of enquiries for yacht racing entertainment/beach gigs etc here and we are looking at turning it around to a creative kindred spirit as opposed the "corporate cover band" style, that, that scene is in.

It is indeed an incredible scene, the use of authentic instruments is paramount.

A dedication to an art form.
I believe this is how we all got in to this very addictive business, an obsessive dedication to a Mosrite guitar and a Farfisa organ really does make good listening for a wide audience.(in this genre)
It`s out there and brilliant.

Hits? Who knows.
Snappy to the point tunes?
Oh yes.

Not as such ... but may have an opportunity.
Drop an e mail address and I'll tell you more (don't want to post on open forum).

Well, well, well! What a surprising thread!

I can't help but agree. It's a little micro-scene all its own. I have plugged Surf and Rockabilly for audiovisuals a few times over the past few years, figuring they are fun, clear sounds whose times must come again sooner or later. Despite the help of Pulp Fiction, it hasn't really happened yet. Advertisers still go for Lounge music instead!

My addy: michael@a-lyric.com (who woulda thunk). Maybe we can cook up a few ideas.

I think the limitation of surf music is that a track sounds great, two less so and an album/evening is enough to provoke drowning oneself.

Great for soundtracks.

Indeed, don't get me wrong I have nothing against surf music (Some of my best friends own Ventures LPs ) but an evening of it is too much, barring the die-hards.

For me the odd track does get my foot-a-tappin' but four or five in a row and my interest wanes and it becomes background sound.

Most certainly surf has produced it's fair share of all time classics.
