It was a relatively quiet day at Eurovision yesterday. Second time around for the semi finalists' rehearsals, so we've seen it all before. Apart from the Israeli tantrum of course.
The only thing of note for me occurred at the Icelandic Press conference. A guy stood up and told the Icelandic composer that one of his songs had been covered in South Africa, and was the highest selling cover version (or something) in that country. He then went on to present him with an award. A spoon!
Sadly, no-one else found this amusing apart from me, as I sat guffawing away to myself.
The most underwhelming event I have ever witnessed.
The feedback I heard was very positive after Iceland's rehearsal. As for the lyrics, I would say they are the best English ones in the contest. The singer is experienced and guaranteed to give a good performance every time.
My only reservation about its chances of qualifying for the final is the adult rock genre the song belongs to. I love it, but I'm not 100% convinced that it is right for a contest of this nature.
