I was lucky enough to get an invitation to see a mini concert by The Ark, Sweden's Eurovision representatives, on the outskirts of Helsinki last night.
I believe they are known to some people who post on here. I have to say I was massively impressed by them. The lead singer is a natural showman with a great voice and the songs are excellent. The best gig I have been to in a long time.
I can see no reason whatsoever why this band shouldn't be huge in the UK.
For those who don't know, they place themselves in the Glam Rock genre, but I think they are more multi-dimensional and contemporary than that
It takes the drum intro from "See My Baby Jive". The melody is similar in parts to "Love grows where my Rosemary goes", but not a direct nick. The vocalist also sounds very much like Sweet's Brian Connelly.
I feel like I've heard it all before, but it makes me go all nostalgic so I hope it does well.
They should and could be massive in this country in my opinion. Interviewed them ages ago and think they were signed to Virgin in Sweden...why Virgin UK doesnt pick them up and push them after this weekend at the least is beyond me
