TOPIC: Bob Cuba gig and album

Bob Cuba gig and album 18 Years ago
I was searching the internet for a band I stumbled accross in Glasgow at a gig "Bob Cuba" and noticed this board. I was there to see Ainslie Henderson.

First, they are amazing live, amazing! Second, I bought their album and it is beyond amazing!! I cannot believe bands like this are hiding in the depths of the indie underground scene! Apparently the guy from the Fratellis was there too, so I want to tip them before anybody else!

Like the retro approach, I`m allways up for that, it`s ironically refreshing.

I wasn`t that into the voice or the songs.

Could be huge, as in many acts, but I feel there is a way to go yet.

Thanks for sharing.

I disagree, I like the voice. Definately more advanced in songwriting than other pub-rock Scottish acts like The View or Fratellis although you could be right that some songs need a little more work. The energy they have live is lost a little on some songs. Still bought it though

I saw them London a couple of years back and they were a really tight 3-piece with some fairly sellable/commercial sounding Cure type songs but possibly not nasty/odd enough for my liking (did a review somewhere, so will try to dig it out). As I remember there were A&R and press hovering around too

Bob Cuba are playing London on the following dates:

Thu 28th June - Bull & Gate, Kentish Town (Camden)
Fri 29th June - Hope & Anchor, Islington

I highly recommend!!!

Sounds like an interesting band. But it also sounds like they are selling their demos. So the extra work is probably in production. Nice, nonetheless.
