TOPIC: Question for Korda on Scooch...

Question for Korda on Scooch... 18 Years ago
Why?

Reminds me of when I persuaded Mark Collen to sign Precious to EMI, then discovered they couldn't sing or dance and Mark asked me "Can't they?".

It's always trouble when an MD doesn't understand a particular area of music.
Mark was good on indie bands - Korda ditto (I remember when Tipsheet unsigned band MUSE got signed to Mushroom).

But Scooch? NOOOOO, Korda.

Tell you what though..

We, in advance, requested Scootches` tune immediatly to be played as we finished our set tonight, and the floor stayed full.

It was loved.

Well Mart - your comment and those of others checking out the younger crowd and club scene might show that this was a real hit - in the UK at least, though I'd be interested to see whether it gets any overseas sales.

and would it have done anything at all - even been released? - without the Eurovision promotion?

Yes I think it would have.

The young people did not go for the "Flying the Flag" hook, they went for the BV`s at the start of the track.
The chorus seemed to be a bonus.
