Click here to watch the video and read my response and would like to have a discussion about it. The movie which i haven't seen yet is being hyped up in indie circles and is interesting but as a lover of all music even silly manufactured pop i think there are a few points it fails to address.

I watched it before reading your comments on your site.

The first thing that struck me was the way in which older writers helping out younger performers were given a dig.
I think it`s a very helpful arm in the current state of affairs.
Even a thirty year old act would not turn a legendary sixty year old producer down.
I shall watch it again after someone raises another point.
I believe strongly that with all the years I have been doing what I do, it is essential to pass the experience gained, on to the next generations, the same as I seek it out in my peers still.
That said, the guy writing a song for a young act on the spot, grated on me awfully.

What i found interesting was how the song sounded originally and the produced version in the end. It didn't sound bad at all. Also with writing on the spot sometimes you can be in that moment and bang it all goes together. I felt the video was too negative and had a lot of assumptions and harking back to the so called good old days irritates me immensely.
Look, as much as i love the Beatles because my parents loved them and a large part of my growing has Beatles music soundtracked i get annoyed when some people think that music began and ended with them. Geez there is much to be gleaned from the likes of SAW, Spice Girls, Norman Cook, Sir Cliff, Oasis etc. Why is it a surprise when some people don't know or don't care about the Beatles or Rolling Stones ?
How many of these musical snobs pay any respect to Beethoven, Chopin etc or even Glenn Miller, Frank Sinartra, Perry Como or Demis Roussos ?
I love all music if i like it hell i will play it to death whether it's a hit or not.
There are many things one can blame the majors for but thinking that manufactured pop started in the 90s is a little short sighted.
As for that numpty that said "i like artists who write their own songs" i felt like asking her 'um what about Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson ?'.

Love that word "Numpty"!
I bet the "Numpty" dislikes artists that write their own bad songs though.
That must be the biggest list in the world.
