The "long list" contained 170 last year or the year before -and I gather they reckon there will be fewer this year, possibly less than a hundred. The obvious suspects - Mika, new Arctics, Manics, Amy etc - you are requested to supply 25 copies for the judges to listen to and yes, there is a fee of around

Majors only submit their two or three key priorities. Most of the others come from smaller labels. They do tend to pass on hints as to those which might be favoured.
