can we just get this right,your album like 100's of others have been put forward for selection for the final short list. Have you paid the entry fee?

The "long list" contained 170 last year or the year before -and I gather they reckon there will be fewer this year, possibly less than a hundred. The obvious suspects - Mika, new Arctics, Manics, Amy etc - you are requested to supply 25 copies for the judges to listen to and yes, there is a fee of around

Interesting Mercurial, I was under the impression anyone could submit an album for consideration, provided the release date was within the alotted time span and you paid your

Majors only submit their two or three key priorities.
Most of the others come from smaller labels.
They do tend to pass on hints as to those which might be favoured.
Then they close the long list and give CD's to all the judges for full listening.
