The "click, click"-clue could be a hint to the way the producer had to snap his fingers (inventing the click track!) to give Ed Byrnes an idea of the rhythm of the song.
"Kookie Kookie Lend Me Your Comb" may be mad, but does it epitomise the new decade? So I'm probably wrong, but that is the only early WB Records release I can think of right now.

And you're spot on DJ! Well done.
Yes the click click was, for me, the finger click that comes...
77... Sunset Strip... click click...
And of course Cookie was always clicking his fingers.
I think the whole "cool", novelty humour of "Lend me your comb" (he was always combing his hair) totally symbolised the BYE BYE war ethic of the 50's following the 40's and the "Hello, we are teenagers, we matter" ethos of James Dean, Presley, Buddy Holly, and even Bill Haley... into the 60's we went and that was the end of hangups and repression and negativity... until this awful new century.

the TV series was a little bit before my time. I saw it much later, and after your description I think I remember: the finger snapping was in the title sequence.
The Everly Brothers were (after two years) the first "real" musicians WB Records signed. Now with artistes like Paris Hiltion, they are almost back were they started from.
