Air Traffic "shooting star" single 18 Years ago
Like many people I think this is the song which will break this band into the Top 20 ( last single Charlotte went in at number 33 )

A band which nod towards Keane-Coldplay and Snow Patrol but with their own distinctive sound and style and absolutely massive on My Space.

Really hope the single does well ( out 18 June with an amazing 4 format deal for collectors from www.recordstore.co.uk ) !!!!! and the album which follows on July 2nd

This will be one of the first genuine My Space created bands. Most of the others have been created sites by majors after getting signed. Air Traffic maintain their own My Space and were getting over 1000 plays a day before they were signed. Up to around 3 - 5000 a day now......

I agree BR, but I think a further issue of "Just Abuse Me" will be the one that really breaks them.

I think they are fantastic.

Dear Sick Of Hype... we have a very positive approach on this board - if anyone is enthusiastic about music and wants to spread the word, they are welcome to do so here.

Better to listen and decide you don't like than to miss great music.

So we don't go along the "hype is bad" road. Everyone is welcome! We can always choose to ignore.

If I might add, Air Traffic hardly need a hype from us at this stage, but an appreciation of their very hard slog is being indicated here and indeed a round of applause for everybody who is working hard behind the scenes for the act as a whole.
But S.O.H, your comment does show you like some of the tips and not others and that`s a good thing.
A board of yes men would be pointless so keep posting.

It's very bland in comparison to their other work. It sails so close to Snow Patrol/Keane/Coldplay that it almost might as well not exist.

I think the excellent new Editors material or the criminally underrated Thirteen Senses are much, much more enjoyable and relevant within that genre.

Big End

Re:ca nwe keep the street teams out? 18 Years ago
what is wrong with new acts and/or labels alerting people to new music? I, for one, enjoy listening to what's new since I find it far more refreshing than reading crass remarks such as your post.

BR

I am a Board Regular - hence the name 18 Years ago
and I concur with everyone else.

Yes I have a label and if you want me to "hype" my pre order release of the week - which I dont do on public messageboards ( but for today I will )

Try SEVEN STORY DOWN who release The Bigger Picture. Their last single reached No 23 in the Indie Chart and the new song was launched at a sell out gig in London last night.

This band are going places and I hope one day they are as big as I am sure Air Traffic will become.

Congrats to all concerned with Air Traffic working on their single and album ( not me I might hasten to add )

Check out our acts at www.7organic.com and you will see no mention of Air Traffic - but you can see SEVEN STORY DOWN on there.

Anyone know where KOOPA have charted this week ? in the mids. Yet another hardworking success story.

I am finding myself preferring the Alternative version BR, of "Shooting Star" to the full blown version.

I prefer that as well Mart...

On a related note though, why do all the Virgin/EMI 7" vinyls have a hole that's too small??
I'm always having to force them on and then spend 10 mins trying to get them off the deck afterwards!!

Grr!!

Aha!
I thought it was just me that had that problem!
Then you have to prize them off again, it is virtually impossible to keep ones fingers off the playing surface.
Perhaps the centre hole has gone metric, thereby losing just that tiny bit to make it fit.
I`m quite happy to have a juke box size hole and use an adaptor anyway really.
