Not many tips these days, so here's one that fits into the news. Checkpoint 303 are one of several acts with roots in Palestine, although they are more often in Europe these days. The band makes "field" recordings of street life in Palestinian towns that are subsequently cut and pasted over darkish electronic loops with a bit of oud playing as well. I saw them play last week and they would fit well into electronic festivals or nights.
Two URLS:
www.myspace.com/checkpoint303 seems to be updated more often and
www.checkpoint303.com where you can download the actual choons (read the explanations as well). They are about to tour Gaza and the West Bank, unless yesterday's events change that.
