FAB Chart - new design - new McCartney - etc. 17 Years, 12 Months ago
I think I like the new design. I notice they've cleared the chart page of shopping links. The main thing is the music which doesn't disappoint. Wonderful new entry by Paul McCartney. Makes me want to check out his new CD.

Always a sucker for Jazz, I am won over by Beata Pater at 14 with Summerwind.

The Still's song at 18 will grow on me. It reminds me of early Water Into Wine Band, but after a few listens it forms it's own identity. Not a major commercial hit, but just right for the FAB Chart.

Zen Arcade at 19 provide a fairly routine pop/rock number, but it's very listen-to-able.

Rob still holds the top. Mart breathing down his neck at 2.

Zooloo will be delighted to see the Motors remain in the top 10.

Good stuff.

I love the Mr Bellamy track. It is a suitable song to mark the 40th anniversary of Sgt Pepper, and very much as good as stuff he produced back in 67. He should have released this track as the single.

I also like the track by The Still. It starts quite ordinary but builds into something special.

A cracker of a gig last night we had too, with "Laughter Time" augmented with a brass section.

Didnt` manage to get the Macca album yet though, I am seeking out a vinyl copy if there is one.

Thanks Mart, nice to know my Linn is now the cheapo version

Liked Mr Belamy more than I thought I would, I'm really not a McCartney fan but credit where it's due and all that. Good stuff for a pensioner

Summer Sun - Zen Arcade was fun but a bit dated, give it another 5 years and it will be retro therefore cool

What Is It Worth - The Still; not a lot.

Summerwind - Beata Pater; mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice , like the intro, quite like the way it carries on but seems to be sitting between predicable and interesting. Could do well in some places.

Good to see Mart creeping up and Rob holding on (Ooo-err!)

As for the Motors... the entire experience has been purged from my memory and I have no idea of what you're talking about.

Two bits of Motors trivia for you.

In my final month of school we were taken on a field trip to watch them record their first single which was called "Dancing the Night away".(I think it was Air studios, but it`s nearly 30 years ago and I can`t remember)

The second one is relevent to the picture that has appeared on the Fab Chart.
Virgin commissioned a street team survey as to why the album was not selling, and came to the conclusion that people did not like the faces on the cover and therefore changed the sleeve on latter copies.
