Question for vinyl fans... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I have been searching and searching for a track that came out in about 1972, which I believe was on the Fly label called "Down Came the Rain".
It was hilariously performed and sounded rather like a young Wreckless Eric.

Any clues anyone?

"Down came the rain"?

That's Incey Wincey Spider. I think it's traditional.

Always glad to help.

Didn't Carly Simon do a version of this?

I`m aware of that release, but it is actually none of the above I`m afraid.

It was played in 12/8, like a doo-wop song, and the chorus went "Dannnn came thw Waaiiin", as the guy faked crying into his beer.
Johnny Walker used to play it.

There was a guy called Mister Murray who released a song by that name in 1965. Not sure if it's the same one though.

Cheers both of you, I believe Mister Murray rings a bell.
This would also tie in with the fact that at around the time I first heard it, Fly were buying up a lot of back catalogue, by the Move, Joe Cocker, Procul Harum and Tyrannosaurus Rex and re-issuing them as singles and reduced price albums, which eventually ended up with MFP.
I`m going to take a chance and order a copy of the Mister Murray single from Gemm.
I can`t get the song , which is the ultimate rainy summer song, out of my head!
