I have only just discovered this. The clip clop horsey bits are odd. Was this a hit?

And why on earth would Hearts be full of motors? Whereas Parks might well be - especially car parks. DOH!

See, this is why I get cross with feeble efforts of covers. That song could be good in a dozen different styles, and instead we get flipping farmyard noises!

My personal favourite rendition is the one by Nina Simone who turned it into a Black Power anthem! The way she goes out of tune on the words out of tune is fantastic. But most people hate her version. Just having people like her, Marlene Dietrich and Frank Sinatra cover it was flattering enough for me. Remember I was a teenage Cambridge undergraduate at the time, totally unpublished and amateur, incapable of reading music (still am).

It might well have been clever marketing, but when I see the video of you singing it you look so young and so nervous and eager that I want to give you a big hug and tell you it will be ok.

And it was, Honey, and it has been ever since. I wouldn't change a second of my fabulous, happy life.
