Get a piece of your own One Million Pound Band ? 17 Years, 10 Months ago
Read all about it and comment please.

I think it's a fascinating idea and one that can work pretty well.

Is that one band with 50,000 managers or 50,000 bands with one manger.

If it is one band with 50 000 fans who buy their stuff and they expect to do quite well then what's new?

As for "raising shares in the band and a million bucks to market" if they can do that then they don't need to do that.

I really don't understand what the point is here.

Basically 50,000 people join this website whereby the 50,000 people will audition and sign a new band. The 50,000 people will be represented by and acting manager who will be on the field so to speak doing the actual day to day management.

The way it works is quite simple. Once the 50,000 members are finalised they all invest 20.00 into the band who then gets a budget of a million pounds to enable them to launch their album, tour and top the charts. The band does not exist yet. The management company with the 50,000 members pick the band and guide them to their success. If you think about it there are now 50,000 people investing in this band and also fans so to speak. The band can't fail unless they implode.

Since when does something have to be a 'new' idea ?
Was Pop Idol new ? No ! Was Popstars new ? Who wants to be a millionaire ? No they are all variants of an existing concept tweaked to present a unique angle. When it boils down to the nitty gritty this introduces
a fresh and invigorating involvement from music fans
who want to be a part of something big. They have that opportunity.

Methinks there are far too many cynical people in the music business but i hazard a guess that were Simon Cowell to suggest this idea these same cynical people will be waxing lyrical about the idea, saying how great it is etc.

You want 50,000 people to sign up one band. To do this you'd need a pool of 500,000 - assuming 10% agree on one band and pay

First of all. It isn't my project. It is run by Sam Bush son of Mel Bush.

Secondly you are missing the whole point. Why did Simon Cowell go through all the hassle of Idol ? why does anyone do anything ? Part of the thrill is the democratising of the management process. The involvement of the fans etc.

How are they going to recruit 50,000 people. Well by talking about it, virally etc. Let's wait and see if they achieve their aims but i think as a concept it's great and even if any band or manager modifies this process to suit their band that's brilliant.

The point is in this new music economy anything is possible. I remember reading a book by Robert Schuller
about raising a million. Either 1 person gives the whole million or a million people give 1 dollar.
Did he raise the money ?

You bet he did. With a can do attitude anything is possible. You don't have to follow what vipbandmanager are doing but think about the excitement factor for those involved.

One more thing Zooloo. Look at what football fans have done. Go to http://myfootballclub.co.uk, and have a look at what they have achieved in 3 months. Similar idea to the Vipbandmanager idea. I think exciting times are ahead.

It is a win win situation. The band get finance, decision making from people who actually love them and success. The fans get a say in the decisions of their beloved band.

But let's see how it pans out.

Simon Cowell went though the "hassle of Idol" because he was remarkably well paid for it. It was not for altruistic reasons.

You answer about getting 50,000 fans is equivalent to "By doing stuff". I realise now it's nothing to do with you so a more sensible or informed answer is beyond what anyone can reasonably ask of you.

As for win-win, unless the majority of people all agree with me then I don't get a say in anything I get overruled.

The football club - how much money have they actually raised? They give a figure but it is a qualified prediction. They're not going to get much of a club for
