One of the best pieces of advice I was given in the 60's by my dear mentor and partner Joe Roncoroni was "always own your masters".

So I never sold the rights - only licensed them for 5 or 10 years.

Thus I'm earning very nicely from Genesis, It's Good News Week, Johnny Reggae and all the other hits from that era.

And I only took on outside projects if I owned the rights in perpetuity - like 10cc, The Rocky Horror Show and so on.

As a result, the majors don't have the rights and I'm able to benefit from them on iTunes and elsewhere.

A lesson for the new generation of DIY musicians.

Never forget (it's so easy to do so)... we all get old.
