Blame On Me by AKON - unintentionally very funny (Gwen StefaKNEE) but also very catchy and a giant hit.

Silly fake video here (there seems to be no official real one)

Like it, but a bit over long, I grew quite tired.
The comment list under the video appear to be sent by predictive text, so a yoputhful hit it is!

Only 40 but downloads only - should rise with physicals next week; but it sounds like a No1 to me.

Sounds like a bad rip off of a Black Eyed Peas hit

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

My kids laughed at "Smack That" on the TV. His heavily sedated rap does nothing for me.

Incidentally, I'm presuming people know the background to this track. Nice of him to try.

I don`t know the full background, but I got the idea of it, which is why I found it overlong.
He had kind of made his point again and again, which may or may not have been better from being a little more cryptic.
That said, genuine hits are rarely found to have a fascinating or even rumoured hidden meaning.

You don't get the picture from the lyrics. What happened was he simulated having a merciless shag with a fan on stage in Trinidad, dragging her across the floor and simulating oral sex. The trouble is, she was only 14 (this was in an over-21s club - so it could be argued that it's not entirely his fault). The crowd cheered. The club has since been shut down and Stefani, who he was touring with, lost her sponsorship deal with Verizon as a result.

Can't imagine what his missus must have said.

And read the Chris Langham thread on Your Views... thought crime, pretend acting, fantasies, jokes, showmanship... these are the ingredients of "crime" today.

God knows what they would have done to James Brown! He'd have been locked up! Oops!

My favourite bit is his Gwen Stefani mention.

Actually cheers for clearing that up Michael, I had the impression that he had dumped a girlfriend whom he had wrongly assumed the age of, so there you go..

I shall relisten with this in mind.

I actually feel very sorry for all involved when stage antics get out of hand, a very nasty state of affairs which notably has very few anthems.

I`ve seen many a strange and spur of the moment stage antic and with all the current "Insurance Companies Shall Inherit the Earth " madness, we will probably be restricted to bowing and shirt and ties on stage by the year 2050 and audience participation reduced to contracted planted persons only.

It does raise many further issues, in the case of the story of the song which had been missed on me previously and performers on stage and lines being crossed.

I have only had one instance of a performer under my care being accused of wrongful stage antics and it was not fun, very ugly and I did not back the artiste one bit against the accusations as I could not disagree, sadly.
However, this situation, does not seem to work both ways.
The list and cases that could have been made against some punters over the years overstepping the mark is endless, and god forbid, should my horrible off the wall prediction come true, gawd help the declining entertainment industry further.

(might require a new thread this subject..)

I know very little about this guy. The 'song' itself does nothing for me.
