I remember Radio 1 as it was in the 80's and in the 90's up to when that awful Sara Cox took over the Breakfast Show, then I stopped.
Nowadays if I flick channels to Radio 1, I keep thinking I'm on Talksport (for the record I enjoy Talksport) as very little music appears to be played (especially Chris Moyles), however, I have enjoyed them looking back at the archives recently.
Radio 2, XFM and Virgin (bit repetitive mind) are the only three channels I listen to.
What do you listen to now JK and who are/were your favourite DJ's. For the record I did enjoy your Talk Radio Show, which I believe was in 1995.
Mine were: - Kenny Everitt, DLT, Steve Wright (80's show) also Terry Wogan has consistently been great.
Pete Murray is still with us, although he hasn't been involved much in broadcasting since around 2002. He'll be in his 80s now, i think. I remember him presenting TOTP and he had an excellent manner.
Another of my favourite radio presenters from way back was Stuart Henry. Also "Fluff", Johnny Walker and DLT.
I rarely listen to music radio these days due to the strict playlists and the emphasis on targeted age groups. I don't understand what's behind this idea that all people of the same age group like the same thing. If the stations concentrated on quality, they'd draw a strong audience. This was why Radio One was so successful in the 60s and 70s, and why it's audience has fallen since they decided to concentrate on 'Yoof'.
