The Lou Reed comparison is actually quite interesting, when I listen to albums , I rarely catagorise my aural mood by artist name alone, and "Earth to King" would sound correctly played after "Transformer", not the same sound at all, but lyrically symilar and in attitude as well.
"Paloma Blanca", is used as an odd addition on hearing for the first time, as is "Goodnight Ladies" on the afore mentioned Reed album.
Once you start picking tracks out of context to the general flow of the entire piece(s), you can end up with tracks like "Plead Guilty" from JKs record and "Andys Chest" from Transformer sounding like they were from a greatest hits album and the plot can be lost somewhat.
Would JP have played a track?
Yes , I think he would have done .
In 1977, he kept us fed on Slaughter & the Dogs, the Pistols etc, alongside Country Joe and the Fish and Captain Beefheart, which my generation would probably never have heard anywhere without this insight.
