CONGRATULATIONS.

I have to give credit where credit is due, he is both a survivor and a fighter.

He could be the biggest iron hoof on the planet but it's nothing to do with us.

If he does an ITV special it will be a ratings winner.

The tour is a big surprise isn't it. I thought he might be winding down a bit, that's a big schedule and a lot of travel even for someone a quarter of his age. Every major city in Australia, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and the all the big ones in New Zealand, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, on top of us here at home. It's almost churlish to question why no European dates, wasn't he huge in Europe too? I know he gets a lot of knocks from people, not sure why, but you can't question his work ethic and continued enthusiasm for his music and his fans which is admirable after doing it since the 50's.

I listen to Desert Island Discs and some people surprise me. I was once listening to one with Danny Baker who was the last person I expected to pick a Cliff song for his 8 to take to his island. He chose The Next Time.

It be will probably his last tour, and then he probably stick to Christmas concerts like Donny Osmond does.

Cliff has looked sickly ever since the false allegations and BBC scandal.

Remember that horrific news reporting back when. Media descending on his house like an invading Army. Trial by media in all its nauseating glory. What is it with some who live just to see people destroyed? Sad, lonely talentless bastards who give nothing. That's who.

Not forgetting it did cost the taxpayers millions and BBC had to cough up licence fee money to give to Cliff.

I was actually watching the rolling news coverage on the BBC News channel on that morning in August 2014 in disbelief and it felt like the BBC was milking it for all it was worth and treating it as entertainment. I was with a family member at the time who had been a Cliff fan since the very beginning and as we both watched on I said to her at the time that the BBC had made a huge mistake and were going to really regret what they were doing. It was obvious as it was going on that what the BBC were doing was wrong. Bear in mind that they even sent up a helicopter to spy into the property from above, all on the licence payer, so how many households licence did that alone cost. A misuse of public funds if ever there was. Yet all the while the BBC had been sitting on top of major abuse scandals of their very own almost seeming oblivious to their own organisation and people within it.

A number of people in the public eye seem to attract deeply irrational haters for no clear reason, Cliff at some point in time became one of these who attracts it. I'm not quite sure at what point this happened because it wasn't always the case.

How many people realsie Cliff did a duet with Elton John, back in the 80's? A very good single that despite these two legends just missed the top forty late in 1986. It's called Slow Rivers.
