On first listen, I’m not keen on the Remember Monday song. It’s too messy with fast sections and slow sections you can’t dance to. Let’s hope it has better staging than we usually manage.

I rather like it and think it's a good entry - probable Top Five in the voting.

All the entries seem to have same over produced drum beats and bass lines.

At least with Miriana Conte - Kant has a lyric we all say. Yet it still took 4 people to write it.

GB News have always done misinformation but calling Remember Monday a band is an insult to bands. Remember Monday are a harmonious vocal group. Not forgetting those who call the group "country" are insulting Nashville.

Seals and Crofts played very simple chords but with technique at least they played their instruments.

Miriana Conte singing Kant, Conte knows exactly what she is doing. People will be saying and singing "cunt" more than ever soon.

I wrote what I thought was a thoughful piece on this subject about 2 weeks ago here on this very thread but it was not published for some unknown reason. It was mostly critical with a touch of positivity. I can't be bothered to rewrite it.

All I will say is if you want a three girl Eurovision pop group bring back Belle & The Devotions! Love Games was a fab entry that I still enjoy listening to even now 40 years later. After I heard this entry once I didn't have any wish to hear it a second time, it will continue the UK's glorious modern day failure.

Never mind Remembering Monday, does anyone actually know how to write a great instantly catchy classic 3 minute pop song anymore, and if not, why not?

This one sounds like it was both written by committee, produced by committee and chosen as our entry by committee, and that is why it will fail. It will not be much of a chart hit, if at all. The tempo changes are horrible and their voices utterly generic and forgettable.

Not sure why your previous post failed to go up Rich. The Tipsheet board does tend to get a huge amount of Spam due to having existed for so long (about 30 years).

Even Glasto fans are disappointed with the lineup this year, Neil Young does not want to do it but is under contract, he has become a right horrible git but he is still talented.

UK has very little to offer from the pop scene and US singers seem to be from the same Illuminati pool. Eurovision needs to change the format, it needs to stay away from plastic pop, with backup singers for theatre and generic backing tracks.

I am always intrigued by Rich's taste in music and threads.

I love how MK does have a bit scene better than my whole county, I have to travel to Brum or Scotland. I do love Fargo Railroad Co. I saw them when they supported Heyseed Dixie. stables.org/boxoffice/ticket/402401

Thanks for acknowledging this. I've just presumed you are the personal gatekeeper to all the comments on your own forum and decide what gets published. Some innocent comments get kicked out, no problem anyway.

One thing I am positive about is the fact that we picked a group again this year, we seem to win with groups, I think the name is quite nice too but the actual content is still just too generic and unremarkable. We should pick a hard rock act one year, or someone like Iggy Pop, although not Iggy himself. Something very different with a hint of danger about it to really stand above the rest. It worked for Finland annd Italy's Maneskin more recently.

Considering how woke and into positive discrimination the BBC now are I'm quite surprised they haven't sent more black acts to Eurovision in the last 20 or 30 years or so. It remains a very white song contest. Is this because they secretly fear Eastern European racism affecting our chances I wonder, but dare not say it aloud? The only obvious black act I recall is Imaani in 1998 who did very well following up our win the previous year with a second place of her own.

Yes Rich there WAS a "racist" element to the voting when I was running it - I broke that with Love City Groove (mixed race) and Imaani. It's far better now but also some races tend to vote less than others. I noticed a lot of this when I ran the thing. In our correct desire to remove racism, anti semitism etc we've tended to go to the other extreme whereas there ARE some characteristics of certain sections including religions, philosophies - and, most of all, the influence of media.
