I'm not sure if I approve of this at all. Is it a look alike? Is it the original track? Either way, the damage to the song and the feeling is serious. Can they only get away with this because of lapsed copyright? Is it out of time? Check out the ad and see if you're as troubled as I am. Glad you mentioned it,I saw it last night and thought it was a disgraceful use of one of the most amazing and iconic pieces of music/performance ever. The recording is from 1960 (according to the liner notes of a Capitol-Records-Greatest-Hits-CD). So it's still protected by copyright. I still haven't recovered from that "Singin' In The Rain" ad with the song given a modern twist and CGI used on Gene Kelly. That really angered me whenever I saw that. Specsavers have achieved a modicum of success in getting you lot to discuss their brand and advertising. It is a fake , of course, the estate and film company would never allow such usage, but it is effective advertising and it may, who can tell, sell some Edith Piaf catalogue. So why worry!

I still haven't recovered from that "Singin' In The Rain" ad with the song given a modern twist and CGI used on Gene Kelly. That really angered me whenever I saw that. I've yet to see this Piaf spectacle...Or another view, what an amazing remix of an old classic. On the dancing, absolutely stunning and on the CGI, done to perfection.

A great deal of time and work went into this and it should be applauded.

IMO.

I pay little attention to ads anyway, but it has never occurred to me that any piece of music is so sacred that it is defiled by being in one. Really doesn't bother me.
