ORGANISATION ANNOUNCEMENT: EMI MUSIC UK & IRELAND
Dear all,
I wanted to let you know that Tony Wadsworth is leaving EMI. This is part of the ongoing restructuring of EMI Music. I would like to thank him for all his efforts for the company over a number of years.
I have asked Roger Ames to take responsibility for A&R in the UK & Ireland and Mike Clasper to assume control of all other operations that previously reported into Tony. Mike and Roger will be contacting you very shortly to follow up.
So... just as we predicted two years ago.
Many more to follow... not necessarily in this order... Stringer will be out at Sony and BMG will sell their share... Warners will experience total melt down... Doug Morris will retire and hand over to Monte Lipman...
And somewhere else a brand new model machine will take over.
Tony is a lovely guy but the likes of him and Lucian and Stringer and all the last generation of major label executives are totally responsible for the parlous state of our industry.
They ascended the ladder in the old fashioned way and thought according to the ancient runes and allowed the world to crumble whilst they banked their cheques and looked the other way.
Don't feel sorry for them. They are all wealthy and bored and retired.
Many more will go (willingly, rich and yawning).
How much would EMI shares be worth today after the awful Christmas results? A quarter of what Terra Firma paid? Look at the Warner share price.
