I've commented on all the entries during the semis - I like the UK, Netherlands, Lithuania, Armenia, Iceland and France. I suspect Sweden will win but I really don't like it. Israel will do better than it should.

Wrong Robbie - the world loved the French and Italian entries (and the German - let's be honest, Austria is German like Ireland is UK). No nationalism; the UK did fine in Jury votes (Top Ten). Just wasn't instant enough for televoters. Like Switzerland.

Austria win with a forgettable song, same as last year. Another campy song wins the contest.
The UK get zero points from the audience, and the favourite Sweden was nowhere. The rest of Europe hates the UK.
It is a poison chalice to be in the big 5, the other countries begrudge the fact that they get automatically entered into the final, and thus no one votes for them, except Italy, who are relatively poor.
I had a few quid on Latvia and Malta to win. Malta mainly due to the word Kant, pronounced Cunt in Serving, I thought the Europeans would have loved that. They are not shy with anything crude or vulgar.
I had money on Israel to finish last as there is so much hate towards them and and Eurovision can be very political. Let's not pretend it is not. No one likes the UK but Eurovision loves the millions of pounds we pump in to it. (Public money of course)

I am surprised the UK got 80 odd points for something that was so naff and forgetable. Either the rest of Europe promote artists well or the UK has no talent. There a lot of good bands out there but Eurovision is more about a singer or vocal groups. Unless you are a Gwar rip-off. (Lordi)
I still think Austria won for the theatrics rather than the song. I will not be be surprised if that sausage roll guy entered the compeition.

The problem is, Cat, the UK no longer has a music scene. The UK had to British Invasions which seem to be rarely spoken about. Bands only use social media to promote themselves, which is oversaturated.
I think bands need to go back to basics and go back to fan clubs and mailing lists, it was more personal. My favourite current band from the UK is When Rivers Meet. They are a husband and wife bluesy rock duo. When you look at rock magazines, it's always bands from 50 to 60 years ago on the covers or some manufactured poser shit.
There seems to be a massive market from tribute bands which does not surprise me, some of them have been fantastic, some have been awful. It's potluck, but they do seem to keep small theatre venues going, which is important. You don't seem to get the NWOBHM booking them these days, they are now in the club circuit, which can be depressing to see.

Eurovision is just a bit of fun a full of campness and chep burlesque like it has always been. However it should be politiced no matter what. People are full of hatred and xenophobia like booing Israel, grow up, people.
The need to opt out of it, people like the British, just not the English. Then again the English do know how to select a lot of shit.
I don't think it has always been full of campness. If you look at Abba's win in 1974 in Brighton it was a very straight BBC presentation.

Gb news are bitching about Graham Norton not mentioning the fact that the Israeli singer survived the Hamas attack at the pop concert on Oct 4th. They get criticised if they bring politics into the competition and they get criticised for not mentioning something political.

Not what you know as they say.

If Gilligan's Island was a band, they would be ABBA. I had no idea the Israeli singer survived an Hamas attack, the media do keep things quiet if it goes against their narrative.
The UK seem to pick a lot of tracks with no melody or style. Whipping of skirts and flashing legs is now old hat.
