Sending the lamb to the slaughter? 17 Years, 5 Months ago
Could I be sending the lamb to the slaughter by asking for help to promote my single Laura's Diary? I would really really love feedback, no matter how bad/good/ugly... please have a listen to it at www.indiestore.com/lizzyspit

Thank you!! Have a great weekend!

Just one little itsy-bitsy track? What do we do when our appetite is whetted and the audience is listening.

Pleasant track. I'd have preferred to be able to hear more.

Hi Lizzy and welcome.

Quite liked it here, I like the way the character in the song gets quite manic.
Good voice and humour shown and I think you will do quite well.
The only thing I would say, and although it gives you great credit to record and release exactly what you sound like,is, I think the release might benefit with some dressing of additional instrumentation.
I do understand that this is something you probably wished to avoid in the purity and honesty of the recording, but I feel that the quirkiness and full elements of the song could be lost to a lot of ears that turn off expecting maybe just another accoustic tune in the current climate.
All the best with it.

good voice, humour and tune. Hard to break another acoustic singer/songwriter.

Hi Lizzy,

I don't ususally pass comment on other people's music - I tend to leave that to the 'pros' on here...

Howewer, I really like your song. I love your voice - I was reminded of Skin from Skunk Anansie, mixed up with a bit of Kate Nash. Very good.

I think Mart makes a good point about the possibility of adding a little more instrumentation..

Have you got a myspace?

Adios,
Pete

Here you go Michael...

Check out 'Not The Mockney Way'

Brilliant!

I think Lizzy is immune from any accusations of 'going mockney' - unlike some others.

I love this music. The songs are well written and beautifully sung.

Lizzy, I think you're going to do well. Best of luck.

I like the unplugged sound. It's probably fair to say that you would not win the X Factor, because a)you're too good, and b)you're very much yourself and need to stay that way.

The song is well written and suits the raw accoustic format. You could rate up there alongside Joni Mitchell.

Good stuff. I hope you do well.

I`m sure Lizzy would delight in "losing" X Factor.
I know I would!* (oh dear the dreaded show with its accent removal campaign crops up again, check out the scottish lads in the other thread from a new act to the Tipsheet)

*(I would of course, also delight in any band I`m involved in maybe not being good enough to play one of the best venues in the world, but thats another story for another day)

I'm out of step here.

Nice enough, but that's all. Nothing grabbed me me it sounded like a lot of other people and nothing interesting or different.

The Scottish band Mart mentioned... they aren't doing anything amazingly radical or different but it appealed to my ears in a way Lizzie didn't.

I can't share other people's enthusiasm on this one.

Like her a lot; great voice, nice song construction... all in all, no slaughter here!

And you look like a young JK Rowling!

Myspace Music Matters

Re:Sending the lamb to the slaughter? 17 Years, 3 Months ago
I personally think Lizzy is amazing... often compared to Kate Nash, which in my eyes is sad, for she is far more talented than Miss Nash, has to be said.

Myspace Music Matters is a Myspace page dedicated to promoting music that I consider incredibly moving in one way or another.

In my opinion, Lizzy writes from the female perspective so perfectly, and has a gorgeous voice and style that scream of individuality and musical freedom, and we are uber happy to help promote her through the page.

I dig what peeps are saying about added instrumentals, but I think part of the sweetness of her music is not just it's honesty, but it's simplicity too.

'Laura's Diary' has the potential to be sung into hairbrushes in bedrooms and showers all around the UK, and rightly ruddy so!

Wishing you every success for the future.

Too right. I've seen this girl live a couple of times now, and all I can say is 'Wow'.

A return to good, honest, 'makes me give a genuine smile' songwriting, simple but effective melodies, and good looking to boot.

Look out world...x
