Johnnie's always been a class act. If I'd known he was covering for Wogan I might have switched to Radio 2, but I usually have Radio 4 on at that time of day.

Really nice guy too - he used to be a customer of mine when I had One Stop Records in South Molton Street back in the day !!
Haven't seen him for years though.

One Stop Records in South Molton Street- that simple phrase brings memories flooding back . The best record record in London during the late 60's and 70's, the shop where american imports sleeves filled the window and walls , and where intelligent, helpful nay even highly well informed folk served the customer. Like decent DJ's, friendly policeman and Fullers' Chocolate cakes , a relic of yesteryear.

I'm a big fan of Radio 2 full stop. Wogan, Bruce and even Jeremy Vine's show is great for what it does. I'm not so keen on the self-aggrandising Steve Wright (though the oldies he plays make it bearable). Can't stand Evans but Maconie and Radcliffe make up for it with intelligence and a nice mixture of old and new. I doubt there's another channel in the world with a similarly benign mix.

Not sue if I'd crown him the best but Johnny Vaughan is very good at his job.
I caught his show the other day and was surprised. It was after a song and he made the same comment we were making, I only notice earlier that he was talking about what we we talking about - kudos.

Just listened to Johnnie Walker, a superb show, great seldom heard music only ruined by the now ubiquitous "Red Red Wine" at ten past eight, which came across like an original band suddenly shouting "right, ere`s one you all know...!", before trudging grudgingly into it.

Yes JW really is a class act - it's time a radio station with balls like Capital stole him for a fortune and gave him the brekkie show every morning - he'd wipe the competition off the map.
