Re:Mike Smith Lead Singer of The Dave Clark Five Dies 17 Years, 3 Months ago
This has been expected for some time.
Peter Noone (Herman) has been running a quiet campaign to help Mike who has been disabled by bad health for ages.
Still sad to see another of our 60's compatriots dropping by the wayside.

When you think of some of those bands from the 60's... Hollies, Animals, Troggs, Beatles, Stones, Swinging Blue Jeans, Merseybeats, Herman's, Dave Clark Five... it was an incredible era wasn't it and I'm proud to have been a (small) part of it.

Indeed, and I am constantly fascinated by the music and musicians of that era as are many of course, and still have to pinch myself sometimes at how many I have met and worked with over the years, however briefly.
A thought that occurred to me only yesterday was how wonderfully spontaneous some classic recordings were made by then young bands, without the tension and near terror(in some people) of a click track being maintained during recording. Something which these days the young bands are brought up to expect.
